Nick Matthews , Headteacher

At Windlesham School, joining us is far more than simply enrolling in an educational institution—it means becoming part of a warm, inclusive, and supportive community. Here, both children and parents are welcomed, valued, and actively involved in shaping the learning journey. Ours is a school where every child is known, every voice is heard, and every talent is nurtured.

As a headteacher with over 20 years of experience in education, I passionately believe that successful schools are built on a thoughtful blend of tradition and innovation. A school should be inspiring, exciting, and deeply rooted in purpose. How exactly we achieve this at Windlesham is part of our unique approach and is our secret—but I warmly invite you to visit us and see it in action for yourself. But I can tell you that our children are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in providing a truly holistic education—one that balances academic achievement with emotional wellbeing, creating an environment where children feel safe, supported, and confident in who they are. Because when children are happy, they thrive.

What truly sets Windlesham apart is the strong, personal connection we build with every pupil. Our dedicated and experienced staff bring passion, energy, and compassion into every classroom. We believe in the power of education not just to inform, but to inspire—to encourage curiosity, raise questions, and seek meaningful answers. Through a rich, dynamic curriculum and an array of enrichment opportunities and after school club opportunities, we support each child’s growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are proud to celebrate all forms of talent—whether academic, musical, sporting, artistic, or entrepreneurial. Our broad and engaging curriculum, combined with a wide range of activities and events, allows every child to shine. From competitive sports fixtures to creative arts showcases, Windlesham is an environment where potential is discovered, encouraged, and developed.

Our mission is to equip children not only with knowledge, but with the critical thinking skills and confidence to solve problems, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. By the time they leave us, our pupils are resilient, respectful, reflective, and confident young people, ready for the next stage of their journey with a strong sense of purpose and a clear moral compass.

Our independence also means we can work closely with families to ensure each child’s next step in education is carefully considered and perfectly matched to their needs and ambitions. Choosing your next setting is a challenging task and we are here to help at personal level. Whether a child’s strengths lie in academics, the arts, or beyond, we offer expert guidance and personalised support throughout the school transition process.

We are proud of our proven success in preparing children for a wide range of top senior schools, including Brighton College, Hurstpierpoint College, Lancing College, Brighton Girls, and many more. Each year, a significant number of our pupils secure places—and often scholarships—at these prestigious institutions, a reflection of the quality and depth of education provided at Windlesham.

While we may appear modest from the roadside, our school is set on a surprisingly spacious and well-equipped site. Behind our gates you will find three modern teaching blocks, an indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art computer lab, specialist rooms for science, music, and languages, as well as dedicated drama and art studios. It is an inspiring space designed to ignite imagination and foster exceptional learning.

Windlesham School is a place where children flourish, families feel part of something truly special, and the foundations for lifelong success are firmly laid. We are very well supported by our parent community and we pride ourselves on being very open and available to discuss your child and their learning any time.

I warmly invite you to visit us and experience the heart and soul of our school for yourself so you can feel what we have to offer.

I hope to see you soon
