Windlesham is unique in that it is one of the few truly independent schools in the area. This means we can help parents ensure that the next step is to the right school for their child. Every child is unique, and it is important that time is taken and this important decision is not made too early. We are proud that our children go on to a range of senior schools.
As a non-selective independent school, we are extremely proud of our record of academic results. Very high standards are achieved throughout the school and our children’s results are consistently well above the national average, with scholarships achieved for a range of senior school destinations. Of our Year 6 pupils last year, 9 secured places to their preferred maintained schools and 18 to independent schools with 1 offer of a Head’s award, 2 Academic Scholarships, 1 Music Scholarship and 1 Dance scholarship.
The choice of senior school is taken very seriously, and teachers will meet with parents personally to discuss this important transition, considering all aspects of potential schools from academic achievement to size, location and culture. Regular information evenings for parents and pupils help to explain the processes and preparations for 11+ examinations, for future schools and individual meetings with parents in Years 4/5/6 help parents to make appropriate school choices for their child. Each child will also be helped with, for example, mock interviews.
The school has excellent relationships with our local secondary schools, and we are continually developing further connections with these. This includes open days when we host our local schools who come to us to meet with parents and children. This valuable link enables us to ensure all pupils are well prepared for assessment, and we take great pride in achieving many first choice offers.
