Sport

Our Physical Education and Games programmes offer a wide range of sporting and physical activities for all pupils and is unashamedly child centred. We believe it is vital to grow an interest in sport early in life and on into adulthood and to embrace all abilities.

Our aim is to encourage participation and to develop the all-round skills of all pupils in the school. We have a “Sports for All” philosophy to ensure that all pupils enjoy sport, and are in an environment free from pressure, allowing them to express themselves.

Every pupil has physical education and games lessons during the week, as well as the opportunity to take part in extracurricular sports clubs. As pupils head into upper school, they will gain numerous opportunities to display and develop their skills further with our expansive fixtures programme.

Across the whole school we offer a high standard of coaching and teaching within the curriculum taught by specialist PE teachers, and through a variety of extra-curricular activities. These range from football and rugby to netball, badminton, cricket, and athletics. We also have our own indoor swimming pool on site which enables children start to learn to swim from Reception. For field sports we have access to large playing fields opposite the main site. Our pupils have had some notable successes, with our swimming team winning the English Schools Swimming Association championships. Our football team is the Small School Sussex County Champions and will represent Sussex in the South of England Tournament.

Our Co-Curricular Programme provides an even greater variety of sports for pupils of ALL abilities. We believe in the benefits of children participating in a wide variety of sports, and for that reason, make swimming, athletics, cross country, gymnastics, tennis and many more available.
